Bicycle hire is subject to availability. Hire duration starts from your selected collection time slot and equipment must be returned no later than 6pm on the last day of the hire period (unless prior arrangement made with Barnes Bikes). Any late return will be charged at an additional day hire rate until the equipment is received back.

A 50% deposit is payable at time of booking which is refundable up to 14 days prior to hire. Any cancellation within 14 days of hire date will be non-refundable. Full payment on collection/delivery. Bookings can be accepted up to 24hrs before hire period and require full payment at time of booking.

The hirer must be over 18 years of age or older to sign the hire terms. The person signing the Hire Agreement Form will be held financially liable for any loss or damage to the equipment hired and is fully aware of these terms and conditions.

Photo identification on bike collection is required for all hires. Credit/debit card details will be required as a security deposit for all bicycle hire.

All bicycles are ridden at your own risk. Accepting the hire agreement is accepting full liability for any accident or injury to either the hirer or any third party. The hirer is always personally liable for any accident that they may cause or damage to people or property. Personal insurance cover is not included. We recommend you take out personal insurance and third-party liability cover prior to the hire period.

The hirer must inspect the bicycle before accepting it for any damage or defects. Acceptance of the bicycle is acceptance that it is in good roadworthy condition. Any marks, damage or defects should be notified on the hire agreement form prior to signing. The hirer is responsible for returning the bicycle(s) in no worse condition than at the commencement of the hire period.

Bicycles and equipment hired on a rental agreement remains the property of Barnes Bikes and if the equipment is not returned or damaged beyond repair, we reserve the right to charge the hirers for the full cost of the equipment and any loss incurred within 7 working days.

It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the bicycle and/or other equipment is in proper working order before the hire takes place; this includes brakes, steering, tyres, drive shaft including pedals and any extras fitted such as child seats. If any problems are noticed, then this should be reported immediately where another bicycle will be issued.

The hire fee includes helmet (if required), inner tube, tyre levers, pump, puncture repair kit and lock. Any loss or damage of accessories will incur an additional charge.

Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an individual who is over 16.

It is recommended that helmets are worn by all cyclists. Cycles should be locked to a permanent fixture whenever left unattended. The method of securing should include the front wheel and the frame. Theft of a bicycle will be the responsibility of the hirer and will be subject to a charge to cover the replacement of the bicycle and its accessories.

Barnes Bikes reserves the right not to hire equipment to an individual for whatever reason. We reserve the right to charge for repairs and if necessary, replacements. The hirer will be charged for use of spare inner tube at a cost of £5 or loss of other equipment provided.

Please cycle sensibly, with respect for others and the natural habitat. Cyclists are expected to follow the Highway Code in particular; the “Extra rules for Cyclists” (Rules 59-82).

The hirer agrees to pay on demand all fines and court costs including administrative fees for violations of local bylaws and all other legal violations assessed against the bike and hirer during the hire period.

Anyone cycling in a discourteous or unsafe manner will have the equipment repossessed with no refund of hire charges. The hirer warrants and undertakes that they will use the equipment in a safe and responsible manner and that they will not operate the bike or permit the bike to be operated whilst unfit through drink or drugs or with blood alcohol concentration above the limit prescribed for the time being by road traffic legislation.

The hirer is responsible for the safe return of the bicycle(s) to Barnes Bikes at the end of the rental period at a time and collection/drop off point agreed. Failure to return the bicycle(s) may result in additional hire charges being levied. Unless previously agreed with Barnes Bikes, you will ensure that you will be present for scheduled delivery and collection/drop off timeslot.

The hirer will not undertake any maneuvers which is beyond their level of skill or outside the bike’s capability. The hirer must be in good health and their eyesight is up to the standard required for a road driving test. They must not be suffering from any medical conditions or disability which is likely to adversely affect our normal control of the bicycle.

All equipment will only be used in the manner for which it is intended. Bicycles must not be used on a beach, in the sea or immersed in water. You will not use “The Bicycle” for jumps, or carrying passengers, unless children with Barnes Bikes supplied child seats. Children should always be supervised by an adult.

In the event of a mechanical failure, other than punctures, where the hirer(s) are unable to return the bike to their original collection point please secure the bike and contact Barnes Bikes on 07592 095 640 who will rescue the bicycle(s). A precise location of the bicycle(s) will be required.

Barnes Bikes will endeavor to rectify any mechanical failures where notice has been made. Should the matter not be resolved, and a replacement bike not be available you may elect to return the bike(s) and receive a refund minus £10 per bike for the remaining days of the hire period.
